An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised Typist/Clerical Officer to join the Gastroenterology Department. Our Gastroenterology department is split into sub-specialties: Hepatology/Pancreatic; Nutrition; Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). We operate outpatient clinics, inpatient endoscopy and outpatient endoscopy and have an allocated gastroenterology ward (Guist) for patients. We have consultants, registrars, IBD specialist nurses, Liver specialist nurses and Nutrition specialist nurses, along with Upper and Lower Cancer specialist nurses. Join the Trust as a Typist/Clerical Officer within the Gastroenterology Department. This is a busy role that requires attention to detail, effective teamwork and a commitment to delivering high quality administrative support to patient care.
Responsibilities
* Typing clinic/patient result letters and updating patient information in the PAS system.
* Sending patient notes to be scanned and performing general administrative duties within the office.
* Locating, requesting and tracking hospital notes to the department and Health Records Library and filing results and correspondence appropriately.
* Communicating electronically with secretaries regarding actions to be outcome from typing to ensure 18-week targets are met.
* Updating RTT in accordance with Trust guidelines and assisting the Administration and Clerical team with data management using PAS and other departmental patient databases.
* Working in line with department guidelines and policies; offering suggestions for improvements to procedures to support service development.
* Maintaining Administration Procedures for departmental practices so colleagues can cover workload in absence, and contributing ideas at regular team meetings for improvements in working practices.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Typing/clerical experience and ability to manage workload in a busy department.
* Strong organisational and communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
