Graduate Academic Mentor – Secondary School | Birmingham Full-Time | Term-Time Only Start Date: September 2025 Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:00pm £500 – £570 per week Step into Education as a Graduate Academic Mentor Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education and a desire to make a real impact in the classroom? This full-time Graduate Academic Mentor role at a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Birmingham offers the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on classroom experience, help students reach their potential, and develop your skills in a school-based environment. About the School You’ll be joining a forward-thinking secondary school in Birmingham that serves a diverse student population aged 11–16. The school is committed to delivering high academic standards while promoting personal development and inclusion. Staff are supportive, collaborative, and passionate about creating engaging learning experiences that raise aspirations and drive achievement. What You’ll Be Doing As a Graduate Academic Mentor, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to raise attainment and help students thrive. Your responsibilities will include: Providing academic support to students 1:1 and in small groups Assisting in core subjects such as English, Maths, and Science Helping students prepare for assessments and develop effective study habits Supporting learners who may be at risk of underachievement Encouraging confidence, motivation, and active engagement in lessons Contributing to data tracking and progress monitoring with staff Is This the Right Role for You? This opportunity would suit you if you: Are a recent graduate (2:1 or above) in a relevant subject (e.g. English, Maths, Science, Psychology, Education) Have a genuine interest in education and working with secondary-aged students Are considering a PGCE, teacher training, or further study in education Are proactive, patient, and enthusiastic about helping young people succeed Have strong communication skills and work well as part of a team Have experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or volunteering Why Become a Graduate Academic Mentor?
