Overview
The Faculty of History wishes to recruit a Temporary Assistant Professor in World History who specializes in eighteenth or early nineteenth century history. This is a fixed term 24 month Temporary Assistant Professorship to cover the academic leave of the postholder in 2026-2028.
Responsibilities
* Deliver lectures and undertake small-group supervisions for undergraduate courses.
* Develop a module for the MPhil in World History and contribute to the core course.
* Supervise third-year undergraduate dissertations and MPhil theses; undertake examining duties across courses and assessments.
* Assess and register PhD students; may serve as internal examiner of PhDs.
* Participate in the Faculty\'s World History Seminar and attend research events, presentations and Faculty meetings.
* Contribute to the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate courses; may undertake one of the smaller administrative roles in the Faculty.
Qualifications and experience
* Hold a doctorate in a relevant field by the start of the appointment.
* Outstanding abilities in teaching and research; an exceptional record of research and publications for your career stage; firm commitment to teaching.

Terms of appointment
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 24 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
