We are looking for a dedicated Farm Shop Supervisor to support the Garden Centre Manager in overseeing the daily operations of our stand-alone farm shop, situated within the grounds of our Garden Centre. You will play a crucial role in ensuring top-tier customer service, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and driving sales through effective merchandising and stock management. This role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis of 37.5 hours per week, which includes alternate weekend working. Assist the management team to meet revenue objectives. Support the Garden Centre Manager with stock management including monitoring wastage to achieve maximum margin potential. Auditing inventory levels to ensure product availability and liaising with the team who will be responsible for central ordering. Co-ordinate the merchandising, pricing, and display of all goods, maintaining the highest of standards and maximising sales. Fulfil all till operations and cash handling according to the Cash Security Policy. Coordinate merchandising and promotional activities across the farm shop to drive sales. Work closely with the Garden Centre Manager ensuring there is adequate staffing levels by co-ordinating an effective staff rota and identifying shortfalls. Ensure that all compliance checks are completed in a timely manner and the relevant documentation completed and retained Ensure compliance with food and work safety protocols and supporting the Garden Centre Manager to ensure all staff comply with food safety management standards. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety in the farm shop area. Any other reasonable duties that are deemed necessary to fulfil the needs of the business. Skills and Experience: Previous experience at supervisory level within a retail environment. Demonstrable experience in supporting a team and maintaining a positive work environment. Personal attributes Strong delegation skills to ensure efficient task distribution across the team. Problem-solving mindset to address daily operational challenges swiftly and effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience. A natural ability to handle complaints and feedback professionally and proactively. Passion for customer service and the ability to create a welcoming environment. Strong multitasking abilities to support the Garden Centre Manager with the farm shop, including stock control, operations, and staffing. High attention to detail, ensuring the farm shop area is well-presented and efficiently managed. Ability to adapt to seasonal demands and changes in customer preferences. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and Bank Holidays. Enthusiasm for sustainability and environmentally friendly practices. Ability to stay calm and composed in a challenging environment, particularly during busy seasons.
