Senior Infrastructure Engineer
Cannock, Staffordshire
On-site role
We are working with a well-established international organisation looking to hire a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT team at their UK headquarters in Cannock.
This is a hands-on infrastructure role where you will take ownership of the organisation’s core infrastructure platforms while mentoring a small team and ensuring the environment remains secure, stable and highly available.
The role reports directly to the Head of Technology and plays a key part in maintaining critical infrastructure systems across the business.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain VMware vSphere environments
• Administer Windows Server and Active Directory infrastructure
• Manage enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery platforms
• Maintain and optimise HPE switching infrastructure and VLAN architecture
• Manage Palo Alto firewall environments and secure remote access
• Maintain monitoring, alerting and infrastructure documentation
• Support ITIL processes including incident, change and problem management
• Mentor and support a small team within the IT function
Required Experience
• Strong VMware vSphere administration experience
• Windows Server infrastructure including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
• Enterprise networking experience, ideally HPE switching
• Firewall administration (ideally Palo Alto)
• Backup and recovery platforms such as Veeam or Zerto
• Experience operating infrastructure in production environments
Working Environment
• Fully on-site role in Cannock
• Standard hours 08:30 – 17:00
• Out-of-hours work is rare
• Around 2 weekends per year and ~10 evenings per year for maintenance or upgrades
• Overtime or time off in lieu available
