Your new role
You will play a pivotal part in establishing the organisation’smercial function, ensuring robust processes and systems are in place from day one. This includes setting upmercial systems, embeddingernance, and reporting to senior teams. You will lead allmercial, grant, and procurement activities, providing expert guidance and ensuring excellence throughout themercial lifecycle. The role involves managingplex contracts and grants, driving value for money, and ensuringpliance with legislative frameworks. You will also manage and develop a team, fostering capability and resilience, and will be required to gain a nationally recognisedmercial accreditation within your first year.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Expert understanding of end-to-endmercial and grant lifecycle management, with a track record of strategic leadership inplex environments.
2. Extensive experience in procurement management, including running multiple procurements and managing public sector procurement regimes.
3. Proven ability in contract management for medium and high-value contracts, with strongmercial and legal acumen.
4. Skilled in risk and assurance management, able to analyse options and implement innovative solutions.
5. Strong leadership and team development experience, with the ability to establish new functions and manage change.
6. Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, particularly with senior stakeholders and suppliers.
7. Desirable: Experience with Public Contract Regulations 2015 and/or Procurement Act 2023.
