About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supply team supporting primary and secondary schools across Blackburn. This full-time position involves working with pupils who have a range of Special Educational Needs, including autism, ADHD, social and emotional needs, speech and language difficulties, and learning delays.
As an SEN TA, you will work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to provide high-quality, individualised support, helping learners achieve their full potential both academically and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support tailored to individual learning needs
Assist with the implementation of IEPs and EHCP targets
Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation skills to support pupils
Adapt learning materials to ensure accessibility for all learners
Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies
Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reviews
Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and school policies at all times
Requirements
Experience working with children with SEN (essential)
Strong communication, patience, and behaviour management skills
A caring, resilient, and flexible approach
Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 TA, SEND training)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
