About The Role
EKFB has been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80‑km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are looking to recruit a Section Engineer with Earthworks experience to join our team based in the Brackley area. The Section Engineer will report to the Sub Agent and supervise the site engineering team from construction to close‑out, assist with temporary works design schemes, liaise with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials, manage the site setting‑out team, identify and resolve technical problems, monitor and coordinate subcontractors to meet contractual requirements, and assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and financial forecasting.
Key Responsibilities
* Report to the Sub Agent and supervise the site engineering team.
* Assist with temporary works design schemes and coordinate labour, plant, and materials allocation.
* Manage the site setting‑out team and develop Site Engineers.
* Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
* Monitor and coordinate subcontractors to ensure contractual requirements are met.
* Assist with production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and contribute to financial forecasting.
About You
Key Skills and Qualifications
* HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE).
* Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of site engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
* Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage (essential).
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Valid CSCS card (White, White‑Yellow, Red – Experienced, Black – Manager or Gold – Supervisor).
* Valid SSSTS/SMSTS.
* BPSS security clearance will be required (onboarding).
