Location: Shire Hall, Warwick
Hours: 1-5pm, Monday – Thursday

About Us and The Role

We are looking for a friendly, confident, and proactive individual to join our Meet & Greet team at Shire Hall, Warwick. As a Reception Assistant, you will be the welcoming face of Warwickshire County Council, providing a high-quality front-of-house service to staff, Councillors, visitors, and members of the public.

This is a key customer-facing role where excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You’ll be responsible for greeting visitors, answering queries, managing sign-ins, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the reception area.

What You’ll Be Doing:

* Providing a warm and professional welcome to all visitors and staff.
* Handling enquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
* Supporting building users with directions and information.
* Maintaining accurate visitor records and following security procedures.
* Assisting with basic administrative tasks to support the wider team.
* Deliver clear, helpful information and confidently guide individuals to appropriate local services and support.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

* Excellent customer service skills and a courteous, approachable manner.
* Confident communication skills across all channels – face-to-face, phone, and written.
* Experience working in a busy customer service or reception environment.
* Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
* A methodical and accurate approach to work, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
* Flexibility to cover team absences, sometimes at short notice.
* Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following procedures.

Additional Information

The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
