At Adur & Worthing we are committed to taking an entrepreneurial and commercial approach to serving our communities. We are focused on using our assets and investments to improve our economy and support our communities. So…

1. Are you interested in, or even part qualified in non-residential property asset management?
2. Are you seeking a role within a friendly and results oriented team?
3. Are you adaptable and a good communicator?
4. Are you IT literate, organised and able to think on the spot?
5. Do you want to get out of the office and visit our properties and tenants?

This is an environment in which your property and commercial skills will flourish and energy for the job is appreciated, led by experienced, supportive and friendly staff to assist in your success.

The Councils have significant holdings of community and commercial property and we want to maximise value and community benefit from these assets. Working across the Adur District and Worthing Borough administrative area provides a unique breadth of opportunity, as we own a wide variety of property types.

We will want you to quickly gain an understanding of parts of the portfolio that require your attention, deal with outstanding Landlord and Tenant issues, disposals and problem solving issues, get to know the administration requirements and support the Asset and Investment Managers.

In this busy and diverse role, you will be working with a high-performing professional team. We are therefore looking for someone with adaptability, initiative, communication skills, and calm under pressure. This is a collaborative team that values work being done in a timely fashion and will help you to deliver and grow.

You can be part of our ambitious vision bringing more growth and prosperity to the people of Adur & Worthing by making the assets we own compliant, income producing and/or of immense value to the community.

The structure of local government is likely to change in the next few years and as such this may present opportunities to work across a wider area and with other types of property. The scope of the role could increase which will appeal to candidates with career ambition or those who prefer to work with certain types of asset class, for example.

We also offer apprenticeships to gain RICS qualifications on a case by case basis.

At Adur & Worthing, we are committed to supporting care leavers, in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017. To that end, we operate a guaranteed interview scheme for anyone meeting the essential criteria of the role they are applying for. In order to be considered for this, you will need to be a care leaver under the age of 25 at the time of application. Please confirm that you are a care leaver within your covering letter.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of applicants declaring a disability, that meet the essential criteria for this position, will be offered an interview.

Staff are our most important asset and we therefore have a benefit package which reflects our continuing commitment to our employees. This includes:

6. Generous leave entitlement; a minimum of 26 days + Bank Holiday entitlement
7. Local Government Pension
8. Training & development
9. Occupational Health
10. Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
11. Employee resource groups/networks
12. Buddy Support Programme
13. Flexible working options

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community - a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit. Staff work in a supportive and safe environment, recognising their responsibility to value and respect each other’s contributions. Standards of conduct must be of the highest level to ensure that no-one is harassed, bullied or victimised. We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, staff engagement forums and are keen to hear from applicants from a variety of different backgrounds.
