Looking for a senior clinical role where you can lead, think, and influence? Join our CAMHS team as a Band 8a Pathway Lead, supporting complex work, supervision, and MDT decision making in a dynamic service.
Job responsibilities
* Provide clinical and operational leadership at pathway level, combining advanced clinical practice, clinical supervision and consultation, MDT leadership and decision‑making, and support for pathway delivery and development.
* Work alongside colleagues across emotional and neuro‑developmental pathways, supporting the management of clinical complexity, risk and uncertainty, and embedding a formulation‑driven approach across the team.
* Support the functioning of the pathway at team level, while holding overall accountability for pathway performance, strategic direction and system‑level development.
About the Role
The post holder will be a postgraduate qualified clinician (e.g. Family Therapist, Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist or equivalent), registered with the appropriate professional body (HCPC, NMC, SWE, UKCP, BABCP). They will bring substantial experience working with children and young people with complex mental health difficulties within CAMHS or equivalent settings, strong skills in assessment, formulation and evidence‑based intervention, experience of providing clinical supervision, consultation or leadership to others, confidence in MDT working and decision‑making in complex cases, and a collaborative approach across health, education and social care systems.

About the Service
Havering CAMHS provides access, assessment, and treatment for children and young people aged 0–18, working closely with primary care, schools, local authority partners, and specialist services. The service is part of the wider North East London transformation programme and is actively developing its pathways to improve access, flow, and quality of care while maintaining a strong commitment to relational and trauma‑informed practice. The service is based in Romford, within walking distance of the Elizabeth Line, and operates Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. New starters will have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers and attend drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period unless they are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff.
High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London
Post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Postgraduate qualification in specific area
* Registration with the UKCP, SWE, NMC, HCPC etc
* Additional qualification/training in another psychological intervention
Experience
* Basic IT awareness and IT skills
* Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision to junior family therapists
* Experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision to junior staff across disciplines
