Introduction Indie School Ipswich is hiring teachers to commence in casual relief position from October 2025. We want teachers with a passion for education and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of young learners. Whether you are newly graduated or are experienced, primary or secondary trained, if your practice is founded on unconditional positive regard and the belief that young people can re-engage with learning and experience success through a strengths-based approach to education then this role may be for you! The daily casual relief teacher rate is $623 per day. Casual relief teachers will receive a full day rate even if they work less than a full day! As an independent special assistance school with a growing national network of campuses, Indie School aims to reengage students with learning, improve their literacy and numeracy skills and help them to find their future pathway, whether it be returning to a mainstream school, engaging in post-secondary study, or joining the workforce. Indie School provides young people with the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment using the principles of adult education: agency, independence, mutual respect and accountability. Small classes, individual plans, expertly created units of work, and specialised staff, assist our students to use their strengths to develop understanding and skills in their areas of challenge. Successful Applicants will be required to: Deliver the teaching program in line with appropriate curriculum. Have excellent teacher knowledge, practice and professional engagement. Ensure an effective use of time and resources in the delivery of classes aligned to student’s individual learning and pathways plans. Promote the school’s alternative educational and strengths-based model to ensure student goals and personal outcomes are progressed with the focus on “Changing the Lives of Young People”. Working collaboratively in a small team to implement feedback. Embracing opportunities to participate in coaching and mentoring programs. Supporting students with a range of learning needs, including disabilities, behavioural disturbances, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, low levels of literacy/numeracy, and mental illness. This includes personalising the learning for individual students pursuant to the levels of adjustment of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). Embedding the strategies from Individual Plans in lessons to support the needs of the student. Providing timely and specific feedback to students to support learning growth (particularly through formative assessment practices). Behaviour management (including an understanding of trauma-informed practice, or a willingness to gain this knowledge). Supporting students to experience success.
