Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial resources are allocated efficiently and effectively throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control principles and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
The successful candidate will be primarily based in Derry but may also be asked to travel to other parts of the UK as part of their role.
Duties
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
* Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to ensure budgets are adhered to.
* Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects from a financial perspective.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate costing and financial management throughout the project.
* Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors.
* Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects.
* Provide regular reports on project costs and forecasts to senior management.
* Advise on procurement strategies and contract negotiations to optimise value for money.
Skills
* Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly in cost control and budgeting processes.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with various stakeholders.
* Proficiency in using quantity surveying software and tools for cost estimation and project management.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
* A solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations is essential.
* Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field are preferred.
* A strong background within building and civil engineering.
