We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Mental Health Nurse role at HMP Lewes to join our team. HMP Lewes is a category B male prison, located near the centre of the historic town of Lewes, just a 5-minute walk away.
Hours: Varying shift patterns - these can be 7 am - 7:30 pm (11.5 hours shifts) OR 8 am - 4 pm (7.5 hours shifts).
Salary: Bank rate is £23.00 per hour.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job
* Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
* Undertake medication rounds, assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
* Assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess with sound clinical knowledge
* Work with individuals providing advice, support, and information, managing a caseload of patients
* Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
* Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
* Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders
* Promote best practice, clinical supervision, and evidence-based care
* Share knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multidisciplinary teams and supporting each other

Qualifications required:
* Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development
* Skills in risk assessments and crisis plans
* Experience working within inpatient settings is desirable
* Experience working face-to-face with patients with complex mental health conditions
* Experience with psychosocial interventions, group work, and substance misuse awareness
Experience in hospital, community, or prison environments is preferred but not essential.
