LOCATION: Office base is London Broadcasting House - London. This is a hybrid role with office working (2 days a week) and home working for the remainder
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: anticipated range £55,000 to £65,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,319pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC Distribution & Business Development is at the heart of defining how, in a rapidly changing media landscape, audiences will be discovering and using BBC content through the next decade and developing the partnerships that ensure we deliver the best user experiences and keep the BBC innovative, prominent and available to everyone.
We are looking for a talented individual, passionate about the role of public service to join the D&BD Carriage team.

We manage and plan the distribution of the BBC’s products and services (e.g. linear channels, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds), maintaining relationships with third party platforms and device manufactures, such as Amazon, Google, Sky, Samsung, Hisense and Spotify. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* NEGOTIATING – Identifying and securing the best possible deals, with a wide degree of partner across multiple different markets
* COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS – Engage with multiple partner and stakeholder relationships to develop and promote joint approaches to secure successful distribution outcomes
* CARRIAGE STRATEGY – Developing and delivering successful approaches to the evolving challenges of media distribution
* COMMUNICATION – Articulate complex concepts with first-class presentation and writing skills
* ANALYSIS - Monitor partner performance against BBC requirements, industry standards and best practice, where necessary ensuring corrective action
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
You will:
* Be creative and analytical – with demonstrable experience of developing new approaches in emerging areas and undertaking thorough analysis to support conclusions
* Enjoy negotiating – comfortable contributing to commercial strategy and handling complex deals. This will be supported by strong interpersonal and influencing skills, able to work collaborative and develop aligned positions with diverse stakeholders across the organisation
* Be influential – possess strong inter-personal skills and will use these to build productive relationships with the BBC’s carriage partners, ensuring that the audience can enjoy BBC products and services across a diverse range of devices and platforms.
* Be expert – demonstrable ability to understand and articulate the audience, commercial, policy and financial implications of a range of carriage strategies. You will demonstrate a deep understanding of overall strategic context and will know how to exploit your personal domain knowledge.
* Be audience focussed – with a strong interest in how audiences want to discover and consume TV and radio/audio services and a desire to inspire improvement and change.
