Tech Business and Solutions Analyst at AO
AO Recycling is seeking a candidate with experience in data gathering, analysis, and business change to lead data-driven initiatives. This role involves delivering and supporting IT projects from conception to execution, collaborating with business functions across the group, and driving improvements to make AO Recycling’s proposition and platform the best in the UK. The role is based with teams in Telford and the Headquarters in Bolton.
The ideal candidate will have a foundation in IT project delivery and a proactive mindset for innovative technology solutions. Fluency in SQL and SQL Reporting Services is essential for hands-on database management, report creation, and data-driven decision-making. A basic understanding of networking and the ability to diagnose common networking issues are desirable. The successful candidate will work with third-party developers and Group IT to align solutions with business needs. The role offers opportunities for growth into Project Manager or Delivery Lead roles.

Responsibilities
* Project Delivery: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery aligned with business objectives; manage planning, execution, and post-implementation support.
* Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements and translate technical specifications to development teams.
* SQL and Reporting: Develop, maintain, and optimise SQL queries; design and deliver reports using SQL Reporting Services to provide actionable insights.
* Problem Solving: Identify technical challenges and provide innovative solutions; offer troubleshooting and support across the IT ecosystem.
* Networking: Use basic networking knowledge to diagnose and resolve common networking issues.
* Collaboration: Work with third-party developers and external vendors to implement and integrate IT solutions; coordinate with internal teams and external partners.
* Group IT Alignment: Ensure solutions align with corporate IT standards, security policies, and global initiatives.
* Technology Advocacy: Stay current with emerging technologies and assist in integrating tools that improve efficiency and business performance.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Guide IT-related initiatives across departments with technical recommendations.
* Support and Maintenance: Assist with maintenance, upgrades, and ongoing support of IT systems.
* Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, test scripts, UAT processes, and acceptance criteria.
Qualifications
* Degree (minimum 2:1) in computer science
* 3-4 years' IT experience
* Experience in IT project management and delivery
* Proven experience in requirements gathering and business analysis; strong communication skills to present concepts to non-technical stakeholders
* Power Apps and Power Automate knowledge beneficial but not mandatory
* Familiarity with SQL and SQL Reporting Services for report development and optimisation
* Basic networking knowledge for diagnosing common networking issues
* Experience working with internal and external developers/vendors to implement IT solutions
* Strong problem-solving abilities and a solutions-oriented approach
* Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing multiple stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
