Equipment Support and Projects Officer at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue

Location: Blandford Vehicle and Equipment Preparation Centre, Blandford Fire Station (office based with limited remote work).

Grade: D | Appointment type: Permanent | Hours: Full time – 37 hours per week (core hours 08:30 – 16:25). | Salary: £31,537 – £33,143 per annum (rising to £33,143). | Closing date: Sunday 4 January 2026 (midnight).

Responsibilities

* Monitor all stock holdings by maintaining the asset management system at the VEPC; carry out asset relocations, stock checks, register new equipment, ensuring it is trackable and traceable through its lifecycle. May involve lone working and shared responsibility for building management and security.
* Support and coordinate research and development of equipment; maintain communications for all VEPC equipment matters; liaise with the Fleet and Equipment Project Team, key stakeholders, Equipment Review Group, Technical Document Author and external suppliers; produce evidential reports to support findings and present to relevant audiences.
* Maintain relationships with external suppliers, keeping up to date with new products, changes to existing products and market developments.


Desired qualifications & experience

* 4 GCSE passes – grades A*–C / 9–4, including English and Mathematics, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification (including L2 functional skills), or higher-level relevant qualification.
* Capable of manual handling activities when moving equipment.
* Experience in managing health and safety within a warehousing environment; demonstrating effective approaches to ensure health and safety practices are maintained.
* Knowledge of delivering simple projects.


Other information

* You must have a full, current driving licence and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role. A service vehicle may be available; service vehicles are manual transmission only. Travel will be required across the service area and occasionally outside Dorset & Wiltshire.
