Position: Land Manager in Residential Development and House Building
I am working with one of the leading privately owned house builders in Devon and Somerset, seeking to strengthen the team with a Land Manager.
The role focuses on identifying, negotiating, and acquiring new sites in Devon and Somerset, working closely with land agents and housing associations to secure new sites. You will report to the Land Director and have full autonomy over projects, making it a high-profile position within the company.
You should have a portable book of contacts in the residential development agency sector and a demonstrable track record. An in-depth knowledge of the planning process and experience managing planning applications through the system are essential.
You will collaborate with internal and external consultants to successfully manage projects through the development lifecycle.
Ideally, you will currently work for a leading house builder or residential property developer, but senior candidates from development consultancy are also encouraged to apply.
Experience in land acquisition for large PLC house builders or residential developers is essential.
Responsibilities
* Sourcing off-market land purchases in Devon and Somerset
* Maintaining contact with housing associations for potential partnership JV’s
* Liaising and negotiating with landowners and agents
* Overseeing legal, planning, and design consultants pre- and post-acquisition
* Staying updated on town planning policies, especially in targeted areas
Preferred Experiences
* Degree-qualified, preferably in property or related fields
* Proven deal maker, completing 3-4 land deals annually
* Experienced senior land manager or ready to step into a senior role
* Proven track record sourcing and acquiring land in Devon and Somerset
* Current employment with a national residential developer, high-profile investor, or agency
* Deep understanding of the planning application and appeals process
* Strong network within the land agency sector
* Ambitious, determined, and proactive
* Ability to work independently and autonomously
