We are seeking a committed, resilient, and compassionate individual to join a specialist referral setting supporting young people with additional behavioural, emotional, and social needs (BESD/SEMH). This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping vulnerable pupils re-engage with education and develop positive pathways.
While the role is ideally full-time to provide consistency and stability, employment is offered through an agency, meaning work is dependent on school demand and cannot be guaranteed.
The Role
You will play a vital part in supporting pupils who may present challenging behaviour or emotional regulation difficulties. This role requires patience, empathy, strong communication, and the ability to remain calm and confident in high-pressure situations.
You will support young people throughout the school day - academically, emotionally, and behaviourally - helping them build trust, develop coping strategies, and engage positively with their education.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with additional behavioural and emotional needs
* Motivate and engage pupils with learning, daily routines, and structured activities
* Use positive behaviour management strategies to de-escalate challenging situations
* Build strong, trusting relationships and act as a consistent, positive role model
* Support pupils during lessons, social times, and on off-site activities where required
* Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
* Maintain high safeguarding standards and follow all school policies and procedures
* Contribute to a safe, stable, and nurturing learning environment
