Joiner / Fitter TBC Ltd (Taxi and Bus Conversion Ltd) are recognised as one of the market leading conversion companies operating across the UK and Ireland. Main Purpose of Job: The primary purpose of this role is to carry out high-quality joinery and fitting work as part of bespoke vehicle conversions. The joiner-fitter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and finishing interior components to precise specifications, ensuring each vehicle meets safety standards, functional requirements, and a premium level of craftsmanship. This role supports the full conversion process from initial build to final fit-out, contributing to efficient workflow and exceptional end-results for customers. You will ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations whilst carrying out work in a timely manner and contributing to departmental targets using a "right first time" approach. TBC Conversions may retain a list of reserve candidates arising from this recruitment for any vacancies which may arise which are the same or similar and are of an equal grade of pay. Such a reserve list will be compiled and held for a period of 6 -12 months. Information: Competitive salary based on experience 4 day working week 24 days holidays - 12 fixed & 12 flexible About the role Key Responsibilities: Joinery & Fitting Fabrication: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials (plywood, hardwood, composite panels, and lightweight vehicle-grade materials) to construct bespoke units such as cabinets, storage systems, seating structures, and bed frames. Installation: Fit furniture, fixtures, shelving, and panelling. Install hardware components including hinges, latches, rails, and trims. Vehicle Prep: Carry out ply lining, window cutting/fitting, and the installation of insulation, vapour barriers, flooring, and wall / ceiling linings. Technical Accuracy: Work strictly from technical drawings, templates, and build instructions to ensure consistency and precision. Perform trial-fittings to ensure correct alignment and function before final installation. Operational & Quality Control: Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks on completed work to ensure it meets safety standards and customer expectations. Vehicle Care: Safeguard all vehicles during the work process to prevent damage. Drive and park vehicles responsibly within the site as required. Workflow: Collaborate with electricians, fabricators, and Team Leaders to ensure efficiently coordinated build stages. Liaise with management regarding progress or potential delays. Administration: Accurate recording of hours, material usage, and work completed. Report material shortages or design issues immediately. Health & Safety: Maintain a clean, organised workspace and practice good housekeeping. Operate all hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely. Strictly adhere to all Health and Safety legislation and company policies to ensure the safety of self, colleagues, and visitors. Essential Skills & Experience: Technical Expertise: Proven experience in joinery, carpentry, or interior fitting (vehicle-based experience is an advantage but not essential). Tools Proficiency: Confident and safe use of a wide range of hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. Materials Knowledge: Understanding of materials used in vehicle interiors, such as plywood, lightweight composites, and insulation. Finishing Skills: Experience with sanding, sealing, edge-banding, and trimming for a high-end finish. Driving Licence: A full driving licence is mandatory for this role. Personal Attributes: Attention to Detail: A logical approach with a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and precision. Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a busy environment, while also working well as part of a multi-trade team. Problem Solver: Able to troubleshoot fitting issues and adapt designs to real-world vehicle constraints. Reliable: Good time management skills with the ability to meet production schedules and deadlines. Able to meet the physical demands of the role: Manual handling, working in confined spaces (inside vehicles), and performing hands-on tasks.
