The Gynaecology Outpatient Nurse plays a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within the outpatient setting, supporting the assessment, investigation, and treatment of patients with a range of gynaecological conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder ensures clinics run efficiently while maintaining patient safety, dignity, and comfort at all times.
The role involves supporting a variety of outpatient clinics, including general gynaecology, urogynaecology, and colposcopy. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examination and procedures, assisting clinicians during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures (such as urodynamic testing, hysteroscopy, and colposcopy), and providing ongoing patient support throughout their pathway.
The nurse is responsible for delivering holistic care, including patient education, reassurance, and health promotion. This includes explaining procedures, obtaining informed consent where appropriate, and supporting patients with sometimes sensitive or distressing conditions.
Additional duties include maintaining clinical standards, ensuring infection prevention and control measures are adhered to, managing equipment and stock, and accurately documenting care. The role also contributes to audit, quality improvement, and compliance with national and local guidelines, including those related to the NHS Cervical Screening Programme.
Main duties of the job
You will be enthusiastic, well motivated and friendly with a genuine interest in cardiac nursing. This position will involve working with the gynaecologist as well as providing high quality care.

2. Maintain professional working relationships with all members of staff.
