Business Analyst (Digital/Data) – East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust (Cambridge)

Based in Cambridge, the Business Analyst supports the Data Innovation and Data Management team in turning business needs into clear, deliverable solutions for digital and data projects. The closing date for applications is 4 May 2026.


Key Responsibilities

* Business Analysis: Identify, select and apply appropriate business analysis approaches and tools tailored to the context, scale and scope of change initiatives.
* Scope & Needs Definition: Analyse potential scope, formulate research questions, conduct current state and gap analyses, and carry out user research to uncover needs.
* Solution Development: Support the development and appraisal of solutions aligned to user needs and organisational objectives, including to‑be state modelling, user journey mapping, requirements gathering and option appraisals.
* Implementation Support: Advise on acceptance criteria, acceptance testing, user testing and the analysis of post‑implementation performance to identify further improvements.
* Data‑Driven Recommendations: Analyse qualitative and quantitative data (service performance, patient outcomes, etc.) to transform findings into clear, data‑driven actions and strategic recommendations.
* Communication: Present insights and key messages in everyday language, design and facilitate workshops, and develop communications tailored to varied audiences.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engage with teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, support governance processes and act as a key link between digital/data teams and the business throughout the project lifecycle.
* Financial Impact: Quantify inefficiencies and opportunities into financial metrics and support the identification and monitoring of financial or efficiency savings.
* People Management: Coach and train others in business analysis techniques, develop into an SME for BA within the Trust, and participate in appraisal processes.
* Research & Development: Keep up to date with Power BI releases, new technologies and systems relevant to business analysis.
* Governance & Compliance: Maintain confidentiality under the Data Protection Act, adhere to information governance and security policies, comply with infection control, risk management and emergency preparedness processes.
* Working Conditions: Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in a dynamic environment, meet travel, flexible working and remote working requirements.
* Safeguarding: Uphold safeguarding responsibilities for children and adults, ensuring adherence to the Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Policy and codes of conduct.


Qualifications and Training

* Degree or equivalent experience in healthcare, quality improvement, change management or a related field.
* Formal training or equivalent experience in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS Foundation Certificate, BCS Certificate).
* Formal training or equivalent experience in Improvement Science or Change Management methodologies.


Experience

* Application of business analysis techniques within large‑scale, service‑focused initiatives.
* Significant experience supporting the development and implementation of business change affecting patients, customers or the workforce.
* Experience conducting both quantitative and qualitative analysis from problem statement to findings and recommendations.
* Production of detailed written reports, communication materials and presentations for diverse stakeholders.
* Experience applying improvement, innovation or transformation tools and frameworks in an NHS or related setting.
* Experience supporting multi‑agency initiatives involving third parties.


Knowledge and Skills

* Ability to select and apply a broad range of business analysis tools and approaches; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Working knowledge of change management and workforce redesign.
* Proficiency in evaluating solution options against change objectives.
* Ability to review, interpret, manipulate and present complex data or information.
* Understanding of NHS structures, policies and strategic priorities.
* Capability to estimate the impact of future states and analyze outcomes after implementation.


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required.


Contract and Working Pattern

Fixed‑term contract – 12 months. Full‑time, flexible working with options for home or remote work.


Salary

£39,959 to £48,117 per annum (pro‑rata).
