The Role
The Credit Controller will sit within the central finance team and take ownership of credit control across multiple group companies. The role will involve proactive debt management, close collaboration with operations and sales teams, and ensuring that accurate records and reports support decision-making at both an operational and strategic level.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Credit Manager, you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end credit control process across multiple group companies, ensuring the timely collection of debt, accurate cash allocation, and strong working relationships with customers and internal teams.
You will play a key role in protecting the company's cash flow, reducing credit risk, and improving processes, while also being a visible and approachable member of the finance function.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
* Manage the end-to-end credit control process, from account setup through to payment collection.
* Monitor debtor balances, issue reminders, and follow up outstanding invoices by phone and email.
* Allocate cash receipts accurately across group entities and reconcile customer accounts.
* Produce regular debtor reports for senior management, highlighting risks and overdue balances.
* Work with operational teams to resolve invoice queries quickly and professionally.
* Support the escalation of aged debt, including liaison with external legal partners where appropriate.
* Contribute to system and process improvements within the finance function.
What We're Looking For
* Several years credit control experience
* Excellent communication skills, able to build rapport with both customers and colleagues.
* Highly organised, resilient, and comfortable managing a varied workload.
* Knowledge of Sage 200 and familiarity with Excel
