This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Practice Development Nurse, leading on training, professional development, and quality improvement across Primary Care services within Swansea Bay University Health Board.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
1. Leading practice development and training programmes for the GPN workforce and healthcare support workers.
2. Collaborating with education academies and national groups to ensure innovative learning opportunities.
3. Facilitating clinical audits and research to improve care quality.
4. Supporting staff with portfolios, revalidation, and career progression.
5. Ensuring mandatory training and NMC standards are upheld.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for someone who:
6. Is a registered nurse (RGN/RCN) with significant post-registration experience in emergency or critical care.
7. Has expert clinical knowledge and can lead change.
8. Communicates effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
9. Can develop and deliver training and competency packages.
10. Works independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
11. RGN/RCN Degree
12. Practice assessor/ Supervisor course
13. MSc Level Study or equivalent clinical experience
Desirable criteria
14. Post registration Leadership and Management qualification
15. BSc/BA
16. Post registration teaching experience
17. Experience of clinical supervision.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
18. Significant post registration experience in an emergency department or critical care setting.
19. Demonstrate range of teaching skills, utilising a variety of methods.
20. Working as part of a team as well as working autonomously and assessing at all levels
21. Facilitating reflective practice and facilitating change
22. Working with a range of managers and clinicians in challenging and changing environments. Good leadership/management skills.
Desirable criteria
23. Involvement in service development and quality initiatives
24. Assessor’s qualification.
25. Experience in developing competencies/ teaching packages
Aptitude and abilities
Essential criteria
26. Work in high pressured environment when required and motivate/encourage others to perform
27. Facilitate team meetings and present data/reports. Excellent organisational skills, able to manage own workload and understands reasonable adjustments and how to facilitate these.
28. Write learners reports give constructive feedback, develop SMART goals and Action plans.
29. Escalate concerns and keep detailed records of any actions taken. Facilitate own Continued professional development and to be adaptable to meet individuals needs
30. Experience with models of delivering virtual teaching through webinars and other learning platforms. Facilitating study days and coaching skills
Desirable criteria
31. Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
