Overview
Job Description — Foreman / Supervisor Mechanical Fitter. Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Saturday mornings as required). Reports to: Workshop / Operations Manager.
Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Foreman / Supervisor Fitter in our Washington workshop. This is a hands-on role combining technical knowledge with team leadership, ensuring all mechanical works are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.
Responsibilities
* Technical & Operational
o Carry out and lead mechanical fitting and maintenance on heavy construction and mining plant.
o Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly of HGVs, agricultural machinery, excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks and related machinery.
o Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
* Supervision & Leadership
o Supervise and mentor fitters and trackshop operatives.
o Allocate daily workloads and prioritise jobs.
o Monitor quality, productivity and safety compliance.
o Provide coaching and technical guidance.
* Safety & Compliance
o Maintain a safe workshop and site environment.
o Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.
o Ensure maintenance records are accurate and up to date.
* Communication
o Coordinate with operations and management teams.
o Liaise with customers or site supervisors when required.
o Report progress, delays or technical issues promptly.
Person Specification
* Essential
o Proven experience as a Fitter in heavy plant, mining or construction environments.
o Experience working on HGVs, agricultural machinery, excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks.
o Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
o Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills.
o Full UK driving licence.
o Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
* Desirable
o Experience with hydraulics, welding or fabrication.
o Workshop-based heavy plant repair experience.
