Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Consultant Aquatic Ecologist to join the Aquatic Ecology Team. You will provide technical expertise and undertake surveys for new and existing projects, contributing to the growth and development of our team. Your work will support a range of projects such as Environmental Agency and Natural England sites, water companies, renewable energy projects, and nationally significant infrastructure projects.
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Collect and process freshwater macroinvertebrate samples in the laboratory and conduct benthic macroinvertebrate surveys.
* Assist with the production of Environmental Impact Assessment documents in line with CIEEM guidelines.
* Support data entry, analysis, and processing for freshwater projects, contributing to survey reports and ecological appraisals.
* Deliver consultancy and advisory services of technical quality, prioritising safety and security.
* Collaborate with other environmental specialists on projects of all sizes.
Qualifications
* Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as aquatic ecology or environmental science.
* Knowledge of current environmental legislation, including the Water Framework Directive.
* Experience of aquatic ecology surveys—including fish, macroinvertebrates, crayfish, macrophytes, riparian mammals, and River Habitat Survey.
* Member of CIEEM (or similar professional body), or eligible to qualify for this status.
