The role
Salary: £23,000 - 57,000 per year Requirements: We are looking for someone with energy, commitment and ideas. This role could suit someone from automation, control systems, systems integration, digitalisation, IIoT, OT/IT integration, technical project engineering, commissioning, field engineering, application engineering, technical consultancy, pre-sales or solution engineering backgrounds. We would value experience in industrial digitalisation, IIoT or connected operations. We would value experience in automation, control systems, PLCs, HMIs or SCADA. We would value experience in edge computing and industrial networking. We would value experience in cloud platforms, particularly Azure IoT or similar. We would value experience in data integration, dashboards, analytics or reporting. We would value experience in industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus, PROFINET or Ethernet/IP. We would value experience with Siemens technologies such as Industrial Edge, Insights Hub or TIA Portal. We would value experience with Node-RED, Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, JSON, SQL or time-series databases. We would value knowledge of cybersecurity principles, ideally including IEC 62443. We would value experience in OT/IT integration and multi-vendor industrial environments. Certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Siemens Industrial Edge or ISA/IEC 62443 would be beneficial. The role can be based anywhere in the UK. Travel is part of the role. We expect regular attendance at our main DPS offices in Glenrothes and Monmouth. Responsibilities: We will have you work with clients, engineering teams, technology partners and internal stakeholders to design and support digitalisation solutions across industrial and process environments. We will have you translate customer challenges into clear technical solutions. We will have you design architectures and support project delivery. We will have you contribute to commissioning and lifecycle support. We will have you help ensure solutions are secure, scalable and practical. We will have you design IIoT, edge, cloud, data and integration architectures. We will have you work directly with customers to understand requirements and shape solutions. We will have you support workshops, demonstrations and technical discussions. We will have you integrate technologies such as PLCs, gateways, industrial networks, cloud platforms, analytics tools and edge devices. We will have you ensure solutions are aligned with cybersecurity principles and good architectural practice. We will have you support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. We will have you review emerging technologies and identify where they could add value. We will have you help develop reusable standards, templates and approaches for future projects. We will have you work across teams to make sure solutions are technically strong, deliverable and valuable.
