An opportunity has arisen for a Business Solutions Director role.
The Business Solutions Director will play a pivotal role in transforming legal operations across the firm, determining the firmwide strategy and roadmap and delivering/implementing significant and continual improvement in systems, processes, procedure and policies.
The role will work closely with the COO, Business Services Directors, Business Unit and Divisional Leads to optimise the way in which we work, unlocking value through the adoption of technology (including digital transformation projects and the integration of AI) and enhancement of improved processes across the business (in the Divisions/Business Units and throughout Business Services).
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in delivering large-scale change and improvement in the professional services sector (ideally legal) as well as exceptional stakeholder engagement and management skills.
The role will also oversee Knowledge Management systems (including Lexis Nexis and Thomson Reuters) and work with providers to improve and optimise our use of those systems.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and continuous improvement of the firm's Business Solutions strategy.
Work closely with executive leadership to ensure innovation initiatives support the firm's strategic objectives.
Help shape how the firm leverages knowledge, AI and technology to achieve our ambitious growth targets and deliver an exceptional client experience.
Promote a culture of technology-lead innovation across legal and support teams, acting as an evangelist for adoption of tools and services, providing guidance for stakeholders, and driving user engagement across the firm.
Identify new use cases and opportunities for existing and new technologies to enhance client service, delivering value to the business.
Monitor market trends and emerging technologies, providing strategic insights, recommendations and key opportunities for emerging technology and products that align with the wider technology roadmap.
Lead on gathering requirements and designing solutions. Collaborate extensively with Business Units and Business Services teams to understand their requirements and design and drive adoption of legal tech solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity in the execution of processes, ensuring our lawyers have the tools needed to deliver the best possible service to our clients.
Foster continual improvement of systems and processes, leveraging user insights to refine tools, enhance service quality and address changing legal business requirements.
Work closely with existing IT Director, IT Infrastructure and Development teams.
Manage Business Analysts to design and deliver the required changes, implementing solutions to improve efficiency and productivity. Oversee the adoption of new tools.
Create and operate opportunities to showcase technology, providing insight and knowledge across the business. Lead workshops and innovation sessions to bridge the gap between technical possibilities and business needs.
Partner with Senior IT Training and Learning & Development colleagues to design and support firm-wide training initiatives to embed best practices, build tech skills and adoption of new technologies across the firm.
Provide regular reporting to Executive management, defining and tracking KPIs for initiatives, highlighting successes, lessons learned, and potential risks or barriers.
Own and manage the Knowledge Management budget, aligning investment decisions to strategic priorities and demonstrating value and impact, while also overseeing key supplier and vendor relationships to ensure high-quality service and value for money.
Establish clear firm-wide governance, standards and policies across knowledge content, systems and ways of working, ensuring consistency and excellent user experience.

Skills, Experience & Attributes
Significant experience leading change and overseeing the design and implementation of legal technology initiatives within a law firm or other professional services environment.
Understanding and experience of legal service delivery, and managing legal service processes
Experienced in developing and successfully implementing strategic plans.
Minimum of 3 years' operating at Director level, with broad commercial experience.
Background in law, technology or innovation.
Degree and/or professional AI certification (desirable).
Previous experience in business analysis and project management.
Proven ability to lead change and drive cultural adoption of new practices and systems.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strategic thinker with a passion for legal innovation and technology.
Strong understanding of legal tech, AI tools and emerging technologies
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience developing and delivering firmwide change programmes.
Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead initiatives across the firm, aligning initiatives with business objectives, engaging others to achieve mutually beneficial objectives.
