Underwriting Analyst– Delegated Authority & Digital (Bordereaux & Data Focus)
Salary - Up to £77k
Hybrid - London
This role is designed for someone who is highly analytical, detail‑driven, and able to work at the intersection of data, underwriting, and delegated authority. It sits within the P&C / Delegated Authority function and supports improvements in digital processes, data quality, and operational efficiency.
You’ll play a key role in shaping how the organisation manages, processes, and interprets Bordereaux data, ensuring accuracy, insight, and compliance across binding authority arrangements.
Key Focus Areas
1. Data, Analytics & Bordereaux Management
* Extremely data‑heavy role focused on the organisation, processing, and analysis of bordereaux datasets.
* Supporting the Bordereaux Target Operating Model (TOM) project — improving processes, workflows, data quality and automation.
* Working closely with Underwriters to identify key data points, refine reporting needs, and understand exposure, CAT modelling inputs, and property‑specific metrics.
* Not a dashboard-heavy Power BI role — more about understanding, validating, and translating bordereaux data into something meaningful for UW and Delegated Authority teams.
2. Delegated Authority & Digital
* Direct exposure to the Head of Delegated Authority and Head of Binding (currently going on maternity leave).
* Role sits in the DA/P&C environment where tools exist, but challenges include:
* Contracts and data not fully embedded into systems, requiring problem‑solving and process improvement.
* Supports digital transformation and improvements to data flows across Delegated Authority.
3. Underwriting Collaboration & Exposure
* Strong partnership with UW teams, especially Property UW, and great exposure to the UW function.
* Ideal for someone currently in underwriting wanting project‑based, analytical, non-UW work.
* Will participate in cross‑team projects in place of day‑to‑day underwriting.
* Interview panel includes Underwriters — the role is heavily collaborative with them.
4. Technical Skills & Knowledge
* SQL is a strong advantage (role involves querying and manipulating databases).
* AI tools exist to help with querying, but SQL knowledge speeds things up significantly.
* Understanding of property insurance and CAT modelling is highly beneficial.
* Bordereaux experience is critical — understanding how to interpret, validate, and structure bordereaux files.
What You’ll Learn
* Deep knowledge of Delegated Authority operations.
* How bordereaux data feeds underwriting, CAT modelling, and exposure management.
* Significant exposure to Underwriting leadership, offering a strong step toward future technical or analytical insurance roles.
* Process improvement and digital transformation across a P&C portfolio.
