Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Podiatrist based across North Ayrshire. This post is offered on a permanent basis. This opportunity is also open to applications from newly qualified or less experienced Podiatrists for a Band 5/6 development role. The candidate may be employed initially at a Band 5 level but it is anticipated that following a successful development period the successful applicant would progress to Band 6 level. This does not exclude experienced clinicians entering the post immediately at band 6 level.


Hours

37 hours per week ideally, however these can be discussed. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.


What You Will Do

In partnership with patients and their family/carers, the postholder will provide a person‑centred, holistic approach to care for those with long‑term, complex conditions where we aim to promote, provide and support foot health, maximise mobility and improve quality of life. You will provide direct clinical care which encompasses advanced podiatric assessment, treatment and management of patients, including risk management of diabetic foot pathologies and wound management. In addition, the postholder will undertake new patient assessments, including telephone and ‘Near Me’ consultations and formulate care plans based upon patient’s aims and goals. The post holder will undertake minor surgical procedures (nail surgery) and assist & support the team in reviewing and developing specific clinical pathway guidelines & standard operating procedures. You will also be required to supervise and support other staff and assist with student placements.


Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required For This Post

* You will have HCPC registration and possess a B.Sc. in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent.
* Ideally, you should have significant Graduate experience of 2 years; capable of working autonomously and providing high quality patient care.
* Applicants should be capable of working autonomously and providing high quality patient care.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work flexibly and respond to the changing needs of the service.
* IT skills are essential.
* The service provides excellent CPD support and offers the opportunity to work within a progressive service that delivers care through a structured podiatry service.
