Teaching Assistant – Visual Impairment Experience (Braille Not Essential)

Salary: £89-95 per day (depending on experience)

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a large, inclusive secondary school in Cardiff to recruit a committed Teaching Assistant with experience supporting students with visual impairments. This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive team and positively impact a young person’s education and development.
The Role:
* Provide tailored 1:1 support for a visually impaired pupil within Key Stage 3 or 4
* Adapt classroom materials and help facilitate accessible learning
* Work closely with the class teacher and ALNCo to meet educational and pastoral needs
* Support the development of independence and confidence in the learner
* Promote inclusion and equal access to education within a mainstream classroom
✅ The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting pupils with visual impairments (school or care setting)
* A calm, patient, and flexible approach to learning support
* A good level of English (GCSE B or higher)
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and child protection
* An understanding of assistive technology and accessible resources (advantageous)
