 
        
        Highly Specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Home Treatment Teams across Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea. The team works alongside inpatient and community mental health services to provide increased support to those experiencing a mental health crisis outside an inpatient setting. The role involves working with service users living in their own homes and step‑down accommodation across the boroughs.
Responsibilities
 * Provide a full and comprehensive psychology service offering direct care to service users and families, including assessment, formulation, risk assessment and brief evidence‑based interventions.
 * Offer indirect work, ensuring all members of the MDT have a psychological framework for understanding the service user’s needs through consultation, team formulation and contributing to clinical meetings.
 * Lead clinical work as an integrated member of the MDT, ensuring systematic provision and governance of a high‑quality specialist Clinical/Counselling Psychology service.
 * Develop psychological interventions and supervise the Assistant Psychologists and trainee psychologists.
 * Support and facilitate reflective practice, team formulation/consultation and post‑incident staff support.
 * Maintain QNCRHTT accreditation and ensure psychological standards are met and maintained.
 * Utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development.
 * Travel across the boroughs as required and liaise with operational managers and psychological services.
Qualifications
 * Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology or its equivalent, accredited by the BPS.
 * Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
 * Training in clinical supervision for doctoral, senior and other trainees.
 * Evidence of post‑doctoral training in psychological therapies relevant to severe and enduring mental health difficulties.
Person Specification
Education
 * Doctoral level training with expertise in models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
 * Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Essential Experience
 * Experience delivering specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions in acute or crisis settings.
 * Experience working with a wide range of client groups, including those with severe and enduring difficulties.
 * Experience providing clinical supervision to assistant/trainee or qualified psychologists.
Desirable Experience
 * Experience with adults affected by psychological trauma.
 * Facilitated psychological therapy groups.
 * Service development or change leadership experience.
Knowledge & Skills
 * Expertise in complex psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and management.
 * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to convey highly technical information to service users, families and professionals.
 * Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology and complex data analysis.
 * Ability to provide and receive highly complex or contentious information, using advanced interpersonal skills.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills
 * Advanced psychometric testing and specialist neuropsychological testing.
 * Knowledge of QN-CRHTT standards and accreditation processes.
