An established IT Services company based in Reading is looking to hire an AWS Cloud Engineer to support a large pipeline of new application builds in AWS. This role is 100% project‑focused, working on the design, build and delivery of cloud‑native solutions for a range of customers.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys greenfield work, modern AWS services and delivering well‑architected solutions rather than day‑to‑day operational support.
The Role
As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will work as part of a project delivery team responsible for designing and building scalable, secure applications in AWS. You’ll be involved from early design through to deployment, collaborating closely with developers, architects and customers.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and building cloud‑native applications and infrastructure in AWS
* Delivering projects using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)
* Implementing secure, scalable and highly available AWS architectures
* Working with development teams to support CI/CD pipelines
* Contributing to technical design, documentation and best‑practice standards
* Supporting multiple concurrent customer projects in a consultancy environment
Skills & Experience Required
* Hands‑on experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer or similar role
* Strong knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda, IAM
* Experience delivering project‑based AWS builds (not purely BAU/support)
* Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
* Good understanding of cloud security, networking and availability
* Experience working in an IT services, consultancy or project‑delivery environment is highly beneficial
Nice to Have
* AWS Certifications (Associate or Professional)
* Experience with containers (ECS, EKS) or serverless architectures
* CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab, etc.)
* Exposure to multi‑customer or multi‑environment projects
