About the Role
As Head Chef, you will be at the heart of Abbeydale, delivering meals that nourish, delight, and respect the individual needs of every resident. You'll take ownership of our kitchen, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and care while bringing variety and creativity to our menus.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, well-presented meals tailored to residents' tastes and dietary needs.
* Delivering menus that consider hydration, nutrition, and specialist requirements (e.g., texture-modified diets, fortified meals, and thickened fluids).
* Ensuring food safety and compliance in line with Safer Food, Better Business and HACCP principles.
* Leading and motivating a small kitchen team, fostering a culture of quality and efficiency.
* Working alongside care and clinical teams to support residents' wellbeing through personalised nutrition.
* Managing ordering, stock rotation, and budget control to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who can bring both flavour and flair to our kitchen, with a strong focus on resident wellbeing.
You'll need:
* Proven experience as a Head Chef or similar leadership role (care home or healthcare setting experience is highly desirable).
* A strong grasp of older adults' nutritional needs and specialist diets.
* Confidence in preparing texture-modified meals and hydration-supporting menus.
* Knowledge of compliance and kitchen safety standards, with a focus on best practice.
* Leadership skills to inspire and manage your team effectively.
* A genuine passion for enhancing residents' daily lives through food.
