We have an exciting opportunity for forward thinking, motivated, enthusiastic, patient focused Staff Nurses, required for theSomersetNeonatal Intensive Care Unitbased atMusgrove Park Hospital, Taunton part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be caring for sick and premature babies and their families on the Neonatal Unit and in Transitional Care. Working within a team of up to 8 nurses, responsible for the delivery of nursing care to infants in the neonatal unit.

Main duties of the job
Applicants should be positively driven to promote outstanding family centred care and willing to strive for the highest clinical standards by working together within a multi disciplinary leadership team, you must be able to provide clinical expertise in the Unit whilst supporting junior team members.
If you are a registered nurse at Band 5 with post QIS experience in an acute neonatal setting, please get in touch - learning opportunities are provided to support the right candidate within the role..
Teach and train parents in parent craft and nursing skills and provide parents with a high level of support, imparting relevant information to them about the condition of their infant.
You should have excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise and manage a patient caseload and enjoy the challenge of such an exciting opportunity.
Promote and maintain the safety of babies by being responsive and reactive to safeguarding issues by following Trust and National Safeguarding Children guidelines.
To provide support to junior staff and students undertaking placement with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers with sensitive clinical information.

Your main responsibilities are the care of sick and preterm infants, support for their families, and including the co-ordination and running of the neonatal Unit.
Providing a safe environment for the baby and family by upholding infection control and cleanliness standards following Trust and National guidance.
Developing and maintain good working relationships with relevant individuals and teams, within and external to the Trust.
Providing nursing care for sick and preterm infants in a Neonatal Unit environment, prioritising Family Integrated Care

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
* NMC Registered Nurse part 1, 7, or 10 of the NMC register
* Degree or working towards a degree - Neonatal Care
* Current knowledge of evidence-based practice in neonatal nursing
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Children policies
* Understanding of the legal and ethical issues relating to babies and children
* Ability to communicate in an articulate manner with all people in written and verbal
Desirable
* Post registration experience in neonates
* Teaching ability and experience
