Position: Band 6 Community Paediatric Physiotherapist (part-time, 22.5 hours; 3 days per week). Base: Vranch House School & Centre, Exeter and/or Barnstaple Health Centre with potential cross-site work. Driving is required; company cars available in Exeter.
Location options include Exeter (Vranch House School & Centre) and Barnstaple Health Centre, with potential to work in other sites depending on needs and qualifications.
Job Description and Responsibilities
* Job Summary: Deliver high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy services to children and young people aged 0–18 years with developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal, and complex needs.
* Clinical Duties: Independently assess, diagnose, and treat children and young people with a broad range of conditions; develop and implement individualised treatment plans; manage a defined caseload with supervision and prioritisation; provide therapy in community settings, nurseries, schools, and other educational environments; collaborate with families, carers, education staff, and multidisciplinary professionals; provide advice and training on therapy strategies and equipment; attend MDT and EHCP reviews; refer to other services when necessary.
* Professional Duties: Maintain comprehensive clinical records; participate in clinical audit and quality improvement projects; supervise and support Band 5 staff, students, and support staff; undertake CPD and maintain HCPC portfolio; contribute to policies and care pathways.
* Other Responsibilities: Contribute to service development and work within Vranch House therapy team and wider MDT.
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy; HCPC registration as a Physiotherapist.
* Experience: Minimum 2 years post-registration experience with at least 6–12 months in paediatrics; experience in community or educational settings desirable; experience with neurodevelopmental, neuromuscular, and/or musculoskeletal conditions.
* Skills and Knowledge: Sound clinical reasoning and evidence-based paediatric practice; excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills; knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation (e.g., SEND Code of Practice, EHCP); ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Other Requirements: Current full UK driving licence and access to a car for work; DBS clearance; flexibility to accommodate occasional early/late visits.
