Purpose:
The Shop Assistant supports the smooth day-to-day running of the retail store by delivering excellent customer service, assisting with sales activities, maintaining store presentation, and ensuring efficient stock handling. Working closely with the Store Manager, warehouse team, and online operations, the Shop Assistant contributes to achieving sales targets, maintaining operational standards, and creating a positive shopping experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service & Sales Support
Provide outstanding customer service in line with company standards.
Assist customers with product enquiries, offering knowledgeable guidance and advice.
Support sales activities by promoting products, upselling when appropriate, and maintaining a welcoming store environment.
Process transactions accurately using the ePOS (Electronic Point of Sale) Magento 2 system.
Support click & collect, returns, and exchanges where required.
Store Presentation & Daily Operations
Maintain high standards of store presentation, cleanliness, and merchandising.
Assist with daily opening and closing tasks as directed by the Store Manager.
Ensure products are displayed correctly, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
Keep the shop floor organised and ensure aisles remain tidy and safe.
Stock Handling & Inventory Support
Assist with receiving deliveries, checking items, and organising stock in-store.
Replenish shelves and display areas promptly and accurately.
Support regular stock counts and help investigate any discrepancies.
Follow correct stock handling and storage procedures to minimise loss or damage.
Teamwork & Communication
• Work closely with the Store Manager and fellow team members to ensure efficient store operations.
• Maintain positive communication with warehouse staff and online teams to support order fulfilment.
• Participate in training sessions on product knowledge, customer service, and store procedures.
• Provide feedback on customer enquiries and store operations to assist management decision-making.
Health, Safety & Compliance
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Report any hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Store Manager immediately.
• Follow company policies, processes, and compliance procedures at all times.
