About The Role
This is a part-time, reduced year role: 19 hours per week, 36 weeks per year, starting in September 2025.
Keighley College is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to join our team. We are looking to recruit 2 Learning Support Assistants for our Study Programmes Department. These roles require experienced SEND practitioners to support students with Educational Health Care Plans in a mainstream setting based at Keighley College campus. This will include physically supporting students within the classroom, helping with personal care, and, at times, pushing a wheelchair. Additionally, make a contribution towards positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students in their preparation for adulthood.
What You Will Do
1. Provide support within the classroom and off-site visits.
2. Help provide support for students with additional needs, e.g., wheelchair users, hearing impairment, visual impairment, etc.
3. Be involved in planning, preparation, and assessment of learning as part of the course team.
4. Provide in-class support to meet the needs of students with high needs.
5. Provide curriculum teachers/assessors and Learning Support team members with verbal and written reports on students with high needs or SEN.
6. Assist with emergency evacuation plans and practices, and help with all emergency evacuations.
7. Keep accurate and timely records, recording progress and strategies used, as required.
About You
* Educated to Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or committed to achieving this within one year of appointment.
* Experience of working in a team in an educational setting.
* Experience working with students who have high needs or SEN to support their learning through identifying strategies and preparing young people for adulthood.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels in the college.
* Computer literate with a strong awareness of disability issues and equality and diversity issues.
* Ability to assist with personal care provision, including requirements of wheelchair users.
* A passion to promote a safe environment for young people and vulnerable adults to learn in, with a specific commitment to the PREVENT agenda.
* Ability to establish rapport with high-needs students and maintain professional boundaries.
