Technical Manager (Diagnostics / IVD)York, UK | site based | PermanentCY Partners is partnering with a growing diagnostics and life sciences organisation to appoint a Technical Manager for their York site.The Technical Manager is a site-based leadership role, reporting directly to the CTO and providing day to day technical oversight of a team of Scientists within a contract development environment. The role will suit someone who enjoys being close to the science, thrives in a fast moving business and is motivated by both technical delivery and people leadership.Importantly, while this role is focused on technical and team leadership today, there is clear opportunity to progress into a broader site leadership role over time as the business continues to scale. The roleProvide technical leadership and oversight across multiple contract development projectsLead, develop and support a team of Scientists, building capability, consistency and a strong knowledge sharing cultureAct as the technical escalation point for complex projects, troubleshooting issues and driving solutionsWork closely with Programme / Project Managers to ensure projects are planned, resourced and delivered effectivelyProvide technical review and direction on new projects entering the business, ensuring alignment with development processesSupport the translation of development data into manufacturing and operational readinessCollaborate with Regulatory to ensure design control documentation is technically accurate and robustTake responsibility for laboratory activity, including equipment, maintenance and day-to-day technical operationsEngage with customers and internal stakeholders on technical aspects of programmes where requiredWhat they’re looking forDegree qualified scientist with experience in diagnostics, IVD or regulated life sciences developmentProven experience leading or mentoring scientific teams in a laboratory environmentStrong technical troubleshooting and data analysis capabilityComfortable operating in a hands-on, site-based role within a busy, delivery-focused organisationExperience working within regulated environments (ISO 13485 / ISO 9001 or similar)Able to influence, guide and develop others while maintaining delivery focusCommercial awareness and an understanding of customer driven development workExperience in lateral flow development / immunoassay development are advantageous, but not essential.Why this roleA rare opportunity to combine technical leadership, people management and strategic exposureDirect visibility and collaboration with the CTO and senior leadershipClear development pathway A role for someone who enjoys building teams, improving how things are done and having real impact on deliveryTo apply or discuss confidentially, contact CY Partners.Applicants must have the right to work permanently in the UK.CY Partners is acting as an Employment Agency in connection with this vacancy.
