Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurseto join our fast paced team at CRG Medical. CRG Medical provide medical services for police custody suites, with afocuson looking after some of the most vulnerable members of society within the police custody setting.
The role is known as 'Health Care Practitioner' (HCP),we need someone who can work efficiently under pressure, has great communication skills and throughhard work and dedication can make a realimpact on the criminal justice system. You must be confident and able to make quick decisions. The benefit of this roleis that you will work autonomous and manage your own workload.
There is no doubt that it can be a challenging environment at times, no two days are the same.
The role will require you to work 2 night shifts. This rota will never change enabling you have to have a work life balance letting you plan for future months and ensuring you have time to yourself and your life commitments. You will have great support from our Clinical Leads and also access to an exciting career pathway.
Successful candidates will need to attend a 2 week induction, which will include a week of foundation training and a week of shadow shifts.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake comprehensive clinical assessments and offer care to persons detained by the police or other agencies as required to assess fitness for detention, interview, release or transfer.
2. To provide healthcare interventions to manage minor illness or injury and take appropriate actions and refer onwards for more serious conditions.
3. To undertake forensic examination of persons in police care to record (and if appropriate give opinion of cause of) injuries and/or collect DNA evidence
4. To undertake forensic examination of police officers/staff injured whilst on duty to record (and if appropriate give opinion of cause of) injuries and manage these appropriately
5. To collect specimens as required under legislation
6. To provide written statements as required
7. Following the relevant training, attend any Court or Tribunal as required
8. To make and maintain complete and accurate clinical records
9. To assess alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal
10. Identify vulnerabilities and safeguarding pathways
11. To support the clinical governance agenda of the organisation
12. Administer medications through PGDs (patient group directions) and PTPs (Patient treatment protocol)
