About the Service
We are recruiting on behalf of a 10-bed residential children’s home with on-site education provision. This is a larger, structured service supporting children and young people with a range of complex needs, combining care and education in one setting to provide stability, routine, and consistent support. The focus is on helping young people re‑engage with learning, develop emotionally, and build positive behaviours within a safe and well‑supported environment. Due to the size of the service, strong teamwork, clear structure, and consistent leadership are essential to maintaining high standards of care.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to support the management team in the day-to-day running of the home. You will take responsibility for leading shifts, guiding staff practice, and ensuring consistency across the service—particularly within a larger, fast‑paced environment. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you will balance staff supervision, operational responsibilities, and direct support to young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead shifts and provide clear direction across a larger staff team
* Support the delivery of care plans and daily routines for young people
* Promote consistency between care and education within the service
* Ensure safeguarding and child protection standards are upheld at all times
* Supervise, support, and mentor residential care staff
* Maintain accurate records including daily logs and incident reports
* Support behaviour management in line with a structured, therapeutic approach
* Work collaboratively with education staff and external professionals
* Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the home
About You
* NVQ Level 3 / Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
* Experience within a children’s residential care setting
* Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (preferred)
* Experience working within larger homes or complex environments (desirable)
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential care standards
* Confident in leading shifts and managing staff in a busy setting
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Resilient, consistent, and able to manage pressure effectively
* Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people
Benefits
* Salary £33,000 – £35,500
* Ongoing training and development opportunities
* Career progression within a growing organisation
* Supportive management and leadership structure
* Opportunity to gain experience in a larger, education‑linked service
The Opportunity
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced senior residential worker looking to step into a leadership role within a larger, more complex service. You’ll gain valuable experience managing a bigger team and supporting a more structured environment, making this a solid step forward for anyone looking to progress into deputy‑level roles in the future.
