Are you a motivated forward thinking Theatre Nurse/ or ODP we have exciting opportunity with development of a new theatre unit at Wrightington Hospital.
The trust has recently been awarded the Orthopaedic hub accreditation and world is a centre of excellence for orthopaedic surgery .
The post is for hours per week and is mainly a 4 day week predominately Monday to Friday role with Bank holiday leave
Evidence of qualifications will be required at interview and during compliance checks.
Main duties of the job
In support of the matron / theatre manager the team leader is responsible on a continuous basis for their designated area within the theatre department.
Provide professional clinical leadership, guidance, expert advice and managerial skills to ensure the delivery of a clinically effective service in line with local and national development plans, Trust policies and procedures including Infection Control.
Undertakes management responsibility for staff within the theatre department team, including IPR, production of duty rotas, recruitment, selection and supervision of students and learners.
Undertakes management responsibility for the specialist theatre budget and manages supplies to ensure maximum efficiency of the financial allocation.
Develop the team enabling them to grow to meet the evolving needs of the service, ensuring efficient and effective use of all resources. Carry out formal and informal teaching and optimise opportunities to cascade knowledge and skills.
Act as an ambassador for the department and the trust in professional and public settings.

The post holder will participate in, and influence, care delivery by: leading the team in providing evidence based care ensuring that care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated utilising a patient centred approach to care. Be responsible for reviewing and updating theatre care plans and documentation.
To co-ordinate theatre activity and ensuring the smooth operational running of the Theatre.
Responsible for ensuring that there are adequate staffing levels and appropriate skill mix to meet the needs of the unit
Ensure patient care is of a high standard.
Facilitate regular meetings with staff in order to encourage the exchange and implementation of new ideas.
Responsible for recognising and responding appropriately to situations which require immediate action.
Deputise for the matron and participate in senior nurse rota.
Ensure performance standards are met in accordance with agreed objectives.
Manages effectively the use of allocated resources/funding.
To lead the Theatre team in the management of the Theatre environment in order to meet Trust objectives for Risk Management and Health & Safety.
Manage own workload autonomously.
Ensure that effective communication has been established with all disciplines, patients, and relatives. Communicate very sensitive and distressing information to patients and their families. Ability to assess and advise patients in crisis situations and ensure that their needs are met by the whole team.
Enables and supports colleagues in developing effective communication skills particularly in difficult situations.
To ensure all return to work interviews are conducted as identified within the Trusts Attendance Management Policy.
Acting a resource of professional knowledge for the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives through application of theory in practice.
Participate in management of complaints and patient concerns at ward level referring to relevant departments when appropriate. Lead patient and public involvement in the ward area leading to service improvement. Promote high standards of record keeping in accordance with professional, legal and organisational guidance, ensuring nurses/midwives understand their relevance and the nature of confidentiality.

1. RN 1st Level / Registered ODP Diploma Professional Studies in Nursing.
