Steel River Power operates the high voltage electrical distribution on the Teesworks site in the UK, one of the largest private networks in the UK.
Managing a large distribution network, our mission is to ensure uninterrupted and efficient energy delivery to customers.
They are seeking Electricians Mates to join their team on a permanent basis.
This is a pivotal role responsible for providing assistance to the Electricians in the maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems and their associated equipment.
Training and development on particular HV systems will be provided.
This role is Monday to Friday, days.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
Work within strict health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Support routine maintenance of HV and LV plant including transformers, battery systems, substations, circuit breakers and switchgear.
Carry out substation housekeeping, condition checks, and basic mechanical/electrical support tasks.
Assist with inspection, testing, and recording of asset condition and performance.
Ensure safe working areas are maintained, following permits-to-work and network safety rules.
Handle, transport, and organise tools, test equipment, and spares.
Keep accurate records and reports as directed by HV staff.
Ensure compliance with relevant UK electrical regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Work on planned and reactive tasks within industrial, commercial, and utility environments.
Collaborate with electricians, supervisors, engineers, and other stakeholders to complete works efficiently.
Utilise company IT systems to raise notifications for emerging work and feedback.
Work with contractors in order to support planned and unplanned activities.
Respond to emergency callouts to provide support when required.
Communicating with on-site customers along with outside agencies and bodies as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong safety focus and disciplined approach to procedures.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly.
Clear communicator who can follow technical instruction precisely.
Proactive, team-oriented, and keen to develop knowledge of HV operations.
CSCS/ECS card or equivalent industry certification desirable.
First Aid, Manual Handling, or confined space training an advantage.
IT-literate with ability to complete digital job sheets and reports.
Full UK driving licence essential.
