This post is a Fixed Term / Secondment position until March 2026. As per the Fixed Term Contracts Policy - Where individuals with continuous service within the NHS apply for fixed-term contract roles, NSS reserves the right to refuse any such appointment.
About the Organisation:
National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland, providing invaluable support and advice at both strategic and operational levels. NSS supports customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively, offering shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards. Our priority is to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions and systems, delivering high-quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources for reinvestment into essential services.
The Post:
The NHS Scotland Scan for Safety (SfS) Programme was established by NSS in 2021. During 2022, a legislative requirement for all UK health and care providers was introduced to collect data related to devices used in patient care, initially focusing on implantable devices. This is a high-profile programme involving engagement at all levels across NHS Scotland.
The Data Support Manager will join an established team passionate about transforming services to improve healthcare for citizens in Scotland. The role is critical in ensuring core data is collected to support the implementation of Point of Care (PoC) scanning as part of the rollout of the national Inventory Management System and will contribute significantly to shaping this wide-ranging programme of transformational change.
The Candidate:
You will have an enthusiastic approach, with excellent organisation and communication skills.
Experience in data systems projects, data management, and interrogation is essential.
Experience of implementing good stock control practices and product data collection and analysis is highly desirable.
You will have a proven track record as a team player and be able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
It is vital that you demonstrate NSS values of working with respect and care, openness and integrity, focusing on our customers, and showing commitment to each other while striving for excellence and continuous improvement.
Knowledge and experience of the NHS would be advantageous.
Location and Working Pattern:
The position is based at Canderside, Larkhall, with a hybrid working policy supporting remote work. Due to the nature of the Scan for Safety Programme, the role requires on-site presence at Health Board acute locations across NHS Scotland periodically.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
It is a condition of employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the duration of employment with NSS.
Benefits:
Our benefits include a pension scheme, policies supporting work-life balance, occupational health services, learning resource centres, and discounts on leisure, financial, and shopping benefits. HR Benefits Brochure available.
Inclusion:
NSS is committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace where everyone feels welcome. We support flexible working policies and have initiatives to promote staff health and well-being, including various employee networks. We are an equal opportunities employer and guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria.
