The focus being to drive project development, streamline pathways and review service delivery across the region for patients requiring treatment for OG diagnoses. You will join a forward thinking and innovative dietetic team, which undertakes the training of A, B and C placement students, and is involved in teaching at the University of Surrey as well as supporting students with dissertation projects. Advert The post-holder will work within our established OG dietetic team and will be based The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford. We are looking for somebody with several years’ experience in OG dietetics with a good insight and understanding of the dietetic support required for treating patients for OG diagnoses. We would like somebody who is proactive and has the initiative to develop and / or improve the efficiency of a service. The post holder will serve as the regional lead for oesophago-gastric (OG) dietetics, advocating for the recognition and advancement of OG dietetic services at both regional and national levels. This leadership role is integral to the strategic development and delivery of high-quality nutritional care for OG patients across the Surrey-Sussex Cancer Alliance. The post holder will be based at The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford and assume responsibility for the strategic leadership and coordination of dietetic services for OG patients within the geographical area covered by the Surrey-Sussex Cancer Alliance. The role will also require collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, commissioners, and external partners to enhance patient pathways and outcomes. It will also support workforce development, training, and capacity building within the regional OG dietetic community. A video about the Royal Surrey - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R96pMboIYdo Detailed job description and main responsibilities • Provide strategic leadership across the Surrey Sussex Cancer Alliance to drive project development, streamline pathways and review efficiency of the teams, to manage increasing workloads • Support the development of cross-Trust SOPs and guidelines, including but not limited to early intervention and assessment of malnutrition, decision making around jejunostomy placement and management of longer term nutritional problems relating to oesophago-gastric surgery • Provide clinical leadership to dietitians across multiple Trusts and locations within the Surrey & Sussex region, ensuring adherence to evidence-based best practices and national guidelines to support patients diagnosed with oesophageal and gastric (OG) cancer • Interpret and implement short and long term government plans (including National Service Frameworks and professional standards of practice). • Knowledge of relevant national guidance. • Responsible for reviewing and amending scope of service, across appropriate areas. • Lead and actively participate in service/ departmental projects, quality initiatives and service development • Contribute to the development of regional and local policies, informing strategy and creating evidence-based clinical guidance • Act as a clinical role model demonstrating high standards of advanced clinical practice and provide support or advice to other staff when necessary Please refer to the attached job description for the full details of the role.
