The Role

To liaise with relevant Clinical Secretaries, Waiting List Team, Pre-Assessment Unit Staff and patients to provide a timeous and efficient Appointment Service for Pre-Surgery Assessment Appointments. To process pre-assessment requests received from a wide range of staff and departments, with responsibility for actioning and appointing patients within agreed departmental/operational protocols ensuring national guarantee wait time is adhered to.

To liaise with Waiting List Team in order to facilitate waiting list initiative sessions by reacting to ad hoc and urgent requests.

To liaise with Anaesthetic Department in the appointing of patients requiring review by Consultant Anaesthetists.

To participate in Pre-Assessment Assessment Team Meetings contributing to any potential service improvements.

To provide cross cover for other posts within the Pre-assessment service/Waiting Times Team during periods of annual/sick/other leave.

To notify patients of admission for surgery, dealing with cancellations and re-filling of same with responsibility to ensure maximum uptake of appointment slots.

To arrange patient transport in liaison with Patient Transport Services. To ensure stationery supplies are maintained.

What we'll need you to bring

1. Educated to SVQ3 or equivalent level is desirable with at least 3 years experience within the National Health Service.
2. Demonstrate good organisational and communication skills required to work with a wide variety of staff groups.
3. Ability to work under constant pressure.
4. An ability to compile and review figures.
5. Knowledge of software systems.
6. Keyboard skills.
7. A drivers license is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA license.

It would be great if you also have

8. Educated to National 5 level or equivalent
9. NHS administration experience
10. Patient scheduling
11. Experience of Trakcare, Clinical Portal and
12. Microsoft office packages
13. Knowledge of NHS waiting times.
14. Tolero and Milan reporting tools
15. Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative
16. Ability to work under pressure
17. Able to work well as part of a team

Contract type

Fixed Term - 6 Months

Full time

37 hours

Please note this is a 6 months fixed term post. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Administrative Services within University Hospital Wishaw.

The working pattern for this role 9am - 5pm.
