Job Description
United Infrastructure requires an experienced Environmental Advisor to provide environmental leadership and support to project teams undertaking works on critical energy (gas) projects across the UK. Initially the position will support a nationally significant low‑carbon project in the Northeast, with subsequent roles across the UK.
The role reports to the Environment Manager within the Energy Pillar but will interface with clients and all disciplines in project teams and personnel to deliver projects and build relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day environmental assurance across active construction sites.
* Ensure the project meets all environmental obligations, permits, and reporting requirements.
* Work with project teams to identify the scope of environmental deliverables and workstreams and incorporate them into the overall schedule/programme.
* Provide specialist subject‑matter expert advice to colleagues and subcontractors on regulatory compliance and other environmental matters.
* Support compliance with United Infrastructure’s environmental management system and legal requirements.
* Attend site meetings, audits, and inspections with contractors and internal stakeholders.
* Review and challenge waste management plans, transfer documentation, and permitting submissions.
* Support the development and roll‑out of practical, effective environmental management systems and monitoring processes, ensuring best practice is identified, shared and embedded.
Qualifications
Role‑Specific Qualifications, Experience and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in environmental management or another relevant discipline; or,
* Chartered or working towards relevant professional accreditation (ISEP (IEMA), CIWM, CENV or equivalent).
* Previous experience in environmental roles within infrastructure or construction.
* In‑depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and standards.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Full driving licence essential.
* Experience working on major infrastructure programmes or frameworks desirable.
