* Respond promptly and professionally to payroll queries, liaising with HR, employees, and managers
* Support audits and contribute to improvements in payroll systems, processes, and internal controls
* Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all payroll activities

* Proven experience in payroll processing and compliance, including complex shift patterns, multiple pay rates, and routine contract amendments
* Fundamental understanding of UK payroll legislation
* High level of computer literacy, particularly MS Office (Excel) and payroll/accounting software
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including liaising with employees
* Knowledge of pensions, statutory pay calculations, payroll reconciliations, and related payroll processes
* Experience working on a UK in-house payroll
* Familiarity with Occupational Sick Pay, Statutory Sick Pay, and managing sickness-related pay entitlements
