National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our team within Northwest Operations. The Senior Engineer will lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the investigation of traffic collisions, analysis of congestion problems, identification of active travel needs and the design of engineering improvements to the network, while ensuring adherence to defined policies and standards; the role may be required to work unsociable hours.
1. Lead and coordinate the activities and resources involved in the investigation of road traffic collisions and the development of mitigating measures.
2. Lead on the analysis of traffic congestion problems and development of engineering solutions.
3. Undertaking Road Safety Audits on highway improvement schemes.
4. Developing the technical briefs provided to design contractors for improvement works.
5. Reviewing third-party improvement schemes for safety, capacity and compliance to standards.
6. Project management of multiple schemes and coordination with other Asset Teams.
About you.
7. Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, or qualification in a similar discipline with Membership of a professional body (desirable) or working towards membership.
8. Experience of traffic collision investigation and safety engineering including Road Safety Audit.
9. Proven ability to produce technical reports including desk studies, interpretative reports and specifications, with a working knowledge of design standards (DMRB, CDM) and computer aided design and/or traffic modelling software.
10. Proven Project management skills able to lead both internal and external teams.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
