We’re recruiting bar and waiting staff on a casual basis, with flexible shifts available on race days and at private events held throughout the season. Pay starts from £12.60 per hour, with potential for higher rates for team leaders or those with extended responsibilities. Job Roles & Responsibilities: Bar Staff Duties Include: Setting up and stocking bar areas before events begin Serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages efficiently and responsibly Taking customer orders, handling cash and card payments using POS systems Maintaining a clean and organised bar space throughout service Complying with Challenge 25 and all licensing laws Assisting with pack down and closing procedures at the end of events Providing friendly, professional, and attentive customer service at all times Waiting Staff Duties Include: Preparing and setting up tables, hospitality suites, and private boxes before service Welcoming guests, taking food and drink orders, and serving them promptly Communicating effectively with kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service Clearing tables, resetting areas, and maintaining cleanliness throughout service Supporting VIP and corporate hospitality with professional, high-standard service Remaining polite, positive, and customer-focused throughout busy periods What We’re Looking For: Previous experience in bar work, table waiting, or event catering is preferred Confidence, excellent communication skills, and a positive attitude Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a busy environment Flexibility to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts based on event schedules A professional appearance and strong customer service skills Must be able to make your own way to and from Newmarket Racecourse – public transport availability may vary depending on race times Shifts: Casual work across race days and events (including weekends and weekdays). Shifts typically range from 4 to 10 hours depending on event size and job role. Race days are scheduled throughout the racing calendar, and full shift availability will be provided in advance.
